Rescue A Dog

Meet Our Adoptable Dogs

THANK YOU for choosing to save a rescue dog and for considering adoption! We have many wonderful dogs that are currently ready for adoption and we hope that you will find the perfect one that fits into your home, family and lifestyle! Rescue dogs are special because they are perhaps just a little more greatful for the second chance they have at life and they will reward you with a lifetime of unconditional love and happiness.

When we place our rescues we do our best to ensure that you are being matched with the dog that you feel will fit perfectly into your home and family. It is also important for everyone, including your future new best friend, that we are making sure that your home is the perfect fit for the needs of that particular dog, as well.

Please keep in mind that we often receive many applications for any one single dog and it is not always possible for us to return a personal call to every person that applies for one of our dogs. We go through a process of reviewing each application and once we feel we have found the right applicant, we conduct a background check on anyone we feel would be the right fit for that dog. Once this process is completed we will contact the family to set up a time for a meet and greet with the dog. It's important that all of the members of your family, (including other dogs) meet the new dog so that everyone is onboard and in agreement that this is the right choice for you.

* We are an organization made up soley of volunteers so we ask that you please be patient while we go through the application review process.

All adoption donations are non-refundable.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • All dogs (adopted or in foster care) belong inside the home and interacting with your family. We will not tolerate a dog being chained outside.
  • We require all dogs to be fully vetted and spayed/neutered prior to being adopted. Dogs may go to foster-to-adopt homes while waiting to be vetted.
  • Fenced yards are a preference, but not a requirement. You must have a plan in place for exercise and potty needs of the dog.
  • Besides filling out the application completely, we will conduct a home visit and family interview with anyone interested in adopting or fostering one of our dogs.
  • We require all animal records of any animal in the house prior to placing the animal in your home. Vet references and personal references are also a requirement.
  • If you adopt and it is not a good fit for your family or the dog, we require the dog to be returned to Rescue A Dog, Inc.
  • We only adopt in the Tampa Bay Area (Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Hillsborough counties)

**Sometimes other websites might grab and post adoptable dogs from our website but they don't always update them once our dogs have found their forever homes. As a result, we often get inquiries for dogs that have already been adopted. We are sorry but only the dogs listed here on our website are available for adoption.

Chance

Male 2 yrs old

Neutered

UTD on Vaccines

**Courtesy post**

Chance is 2 years old. He is neutered. He’s had a rabies shot and he is heart worm negative. Chance is very affectionate and loves to play. He is very strong and weighs about 50 lbs. He walks good  on a leash. He is trainable. Owner recommends that he goes to a home where he is the only pet. They haven’t seen any aggression, but would not want to risk it. He shows no aggression towards adults. I do not know how he would be with kids. He needs a home that will spend time with him and play with him. He has a lot of energy. All the vet techs fell in love with him.
